Big Mek Battle vs Uberdark – Looted Wagon- A Gauntlet Thrown
This series of posts is duplicated from a thread on The Waaagh.com (when it was workign). I will try to proved reference where I can from Uberdark as the battle goes on.
UBERDARK:
well boys and gals. somewhere along the way sukigod decided to poke fun of me and my orks….at least thats what he says. i think his waagh is missing an \”a\” in it. so i mentioned that we should have a paint off here and over at the waaagh.com. so here we are. without further ado,
da rules: paint a looted wagon. we are both starting with a rhino chassis and building up from there. no other rules except to convert and have fun. the stuff is due by dec. 31st. and after that we will have a poll in the discuss submissions thread where you the viewer get to vote on which one achieves better orkiness. of course you all know mine will. hehehhehe.
da spoils: the winner gets gloating rights, forum awesomeness, and most importantly a set of gretchin w/runtherder that comes out in janwaaaghuary.
so without further ado may the battle begin.
p.s. i am also available to bribe any of you for your vote. i give free squirrels as well.
SUKIGOD (That’s Me)
Well, I better get my “tiny teef” busy….
I’ve decided to use a Rhino as the basis for my Looted Wagon. The WYSIWYG load out will be: Boom Gun, Red Paint, Grot Riggers, Extra Armor, ‘Ard Case, Re-Inforced Ram, and a Big Shoota. There will be an optional Scorcha, if I have time. The Boom Gun, Scorcha and the ‘Ard Case will be magnetized to make the model more flexible.
I spent a lot of time thinking about what I wanted on this thing. I went ’round and ’round about what to make sure I build into this, what would really make it Orky. Teef, spikes, rivets, ‘uge gun, rivets, smoke stacks, rivets, big engine, rivets, red paint, rivets, rivets, rivets. Since this is a smaller vehicle (comparatively) I thought that making every one of these items a big deal (except the rivets) would make the model too busy and cluttered. I’ve decided the Boom Gun will be the main focal point so it’ll be the largest item with the most detail – everything else will merely play supporting rolls (but they’ll still be there).
Now I want my gun to be zoggin huge so I scanned my plumbing supplies and came up with something I’m happy with (any Ork Boss would be happy with this thing!), but I’ll save that for later. Suffice it to say, the weedy Rhino body is too narrow to fit what I’ve got in mind so the first thing I did was to make it wider (is betta).
I’ve added nearly an inch to the width and extended the \”cabin\” area forward to make more room in the back. This will also let me place 12 boyz in the back should I want to use it as a transport (you never know). I’m splitting the front half up to facilitate the Big Shoota mount. I can also place a model there to look cool. Orks like dat – lookin’ cool! I’ve also shaved off all the details inside and on top since I’ll be making my own interior details as I go.
I spent quite some time last night to get a jump start on da kompetition as my schedule will be tight (I don’t get much time to work on things like this). I stayed up late and got the banding traps, the hatch and the smoke stacks capped/rebuilt before calling it a night. For tonights schedule – teef and start work on da Boom Gun, we’ll see how far I get.
Later!
