Charlemagne the Bear – Pt 3 – Fur Completed
Fur Complete
Spent last night finishing the fur on Charlemagne. Here are the colors I ended up using and the blends on my wet palette:
My progression, from the Mahogany washed, previous set of layers, was: Mahogany+Burnt Red –> Grunge Brown in four steps. Once that was done, I gave another Mahogany wash to once again, bring the colors back to a warm tone and to also blend the layers a little. Once the wash was dry I did a straight Grunge Brown, then highlights with a fairly thin Khaki. Steps below.
And the final layer of Khaki.
Next up, the vest, undershirt, and pants. I know I want a creamy, off-white undershirt (standard pirate fare), and a forest green vest. I’m not 100% sure about the pants though. Possible options? Green, like the vest? Black? A lighter leather brown? As I write this, my thoughts keep coming back to black, for two reasons. One, to tie it into the black leather boots (or boot cuffs), and it will keep the lighter colors towards the upper middle of the model and face keeping the focus there, where it should be.
I think I just talked myself into black. In that case, do I attempt two different textiles? Leather and cloth? Hmmmm. There’s always something.
Later!
