Finally Finished 2 Boxes of Stormboyz
What good is a blog if you don’t update it?!
I’ve finished up a big squad of 16 Stormboyz (whew!). This is the first time I’ve worked with composite models (plastic/metal) and my, what a pain! I thought the bond between metal parts was fragile, but it seems looking at a plastic/metal bond is as good as dropping from a second story window. Many times I had to re-glue an arm during the painting process.
I also found out that the superglue accelerant I use will melt plastics (!) so I had to find a solution for that. Turns out it was a simple as reading the instructions on the bottle (OMG!). "Put glue on one part and accelerant on the other part, press firmly together until glue sets." Nice.
The Stormboys, while nice models, are one of the most unbalanced models I’ve ever seen. Had I known that at the beginning I would have put them in very static, standing straight up and down poses instead of dynamic, rushing, angling all over the place poses that make them fall down when someone farts. Oh well.
I’ll be taking photos of them this weekend to add to my gallery here at CMON and my army galleries here.
