Getting Back Into The Groove

Well, after my little meltdown and hissy fit, I’ve calmed down and figured some things out. Picked up a few more colors to finish the ork skin after realizing I was using an “effect” paint for my brightest green. The effect paints are thicker and have a larger grain to the pigment, which explains why it wasn’t thinning the way I expected. While still not excited about how the skin tones turned out, I was happy to find myself finally getting back into the groove with the actual application of paint.

Once the skin was done, I proceeded to work on the under-clothing. I chose a black so as to not distract from the bright skin and the armor, which will be red plates and steel banding. I’m playing with the idea of trying a non-metal metallic (NMM) here. I had started exploring this just before I stopped and understand the concepts, I think I just need more practice in placing the highlights and the best way to separate the colors. I worked up some darker grey highlights for the clothes using a couple different colors. Again, looking at subtle colors here to let the skin and armor shine.

Should be fun!
