We interrupt this blog for an important research announcement.

Long story short, I purchased and built this model in the early 80’s still think it’s one of the most bizarre kits I’ve ever built (not including any of the anatomy kits…).

By day, a standard Space Shuttle model…

But with a few accessories and a small screwdriver…

It becomes a lunar, or otherworldly planetary lander!!!

I’ve used some of the parts in various looting projects over the years and couldn’t find the main part of the model for years, until today I ran across it in a box deeeep in my basement closet. There was a set of split landing gear for the rear and a second interior for the shuttle portion if you wanted to use it. Two completely separate scales between transformations.

Do any of the old duffers on the site remember who/when/where of this particular kit? I did some Googleing and came up with nothing. I plan on using a few of these parts for the looted wagons I’m working on so it’ll be pretty much completely scrapped when it’s all said and done but I figured I’d ask the community since I know a few of you have a plastic model kit past.
