Ork Shirt Options: Pt 2 and Starting Pants
Finishing blues
My Drakenhof Nightshade arrived and I did a wash pushing the shirt color right where I wanted it to be. A very light touch of the Faded Ultramarine for highlighting and I’m happy. Sadly, I was so excited that it worked, I forgot to take pics of the steps. I’m including picks of all three colors at the end of this so you can see where the medium blue/greys landed.
Next up is the Dusty Black. Of the three, this is the least of mine. It worked out ok, but I’m not sure why I don’t care for it. Maybe too boring? Even though they’re muted, there’s still a bit of contrast with the tan and blue/grey. Maybe my feelings will change after I’ve done the leather straps and see how it contrasts with them. Sometimes you just gotta trust the process. 😉

Here’s all three options together. Again, I’m looking for something for variation but nothing that competes with the vibrancy of the green skin.
On to the pants!
For pants, I’m using the same concept of “3 options”. Here, I want a Dark Brown, a yellow/tan color, and a dark, desaturated blue. There are a few thoughts behind these about how I want to make sure they don’t just copy other similar colors on the model.
I want the brown to be a dark and slightly weathered brown. Something hardy, but doesn’t look like leather, there’s enough leather on these models. I want the look of canvas. I will avoid moving into the warmer yellows as that’s where most of my leathers tend to be.
The yellow/tan color is taken from a work pant that I have a few pairs of. Super comfortable and durable, mine are from Duluth Trading. Again, I’m looking at a canvas type texture on these. Apparently the color for this is called Flax. Brighter than most, I think it’ll look different on the tabletop and interesting too since you usually don’t see this color in orky color schemes. If it doesn’t work? Well, then there’s only three out of 70+ that have it 🙂
The last color I want to use is a dark blue. This one I want the look of a dark canvas denim. Here, I want to avoid it looking too close to the shirt color and simply blending in with those models that have both blue based clothing.
An Apology, Up Front
There are times when I just get caught up in a process and forget to take pics. This is one of those times. For some reason, I just barreled my way through the dark brown pants and didn’t take a single picture until it was done. My bad.
Here’s the results though, along with my color progression.

I’ve already pulled he colors I want to try using for the flax colored pants. Should be interesting!
Later!
