First Unit Done!
Finished my first complete unit for my new ork army. Twenty of the last generation grots. Mainly done to keep working on my brush and skills. I didn’t take a lot of photos over hte last few weeks as most sessions were short and I didn’t cover al ot each time. One session may be focused on doing just the cloth tabbards, another on the face covering and hats.
I did experiment with this metals, using a technique that Ninjon suggested on his Youtube channel. By not painting everything metallic, then shading, the highlighting, he’s proposed a slight grimy/rusty wash, then a light overbrushing (think strategic dry-brushing), of a dark metallic, then only highlighting the very upper facing edges (or from whatever light source direction you’ve chosen). I like this idea a lot as it save a bunch of time, and honestly, I think it turned out great on these gretchin.
Basing, also, was nothing special. They’re grots… Some sand, some static grass, black-rimmed base – we’re all good. I will be approaching the boyz I’m starting next in the same way as there will be a lot of them (at least 80).
Here’s the little blighters all done up and ready for the table!
Later!
