First Model (In 10 Years) Completed!
Finished my first model in 10 years. Feels weird.
Looking back at the finished work, I can tell as I progressed through the model and how I struggled at the beginning and where things started to come back to me. I’ve also learned I’m a very impatient painter. By that, I mean I’m impatient to get back to the level I was when I stopped painting. I’m impatient with how I’m not learning the new things I want to learn quick enough. I’m impatient To paint 100 differing models to build my catalog of skills.
I now this will come with time. So much has changed with miniature painting since I left and, of course, I want to learn all the new tricks and techniques on the first try! But, I realize with this first “new” model, where my limitations are and where I feel I need to improve. My thought process for miniature selection is just to try different things. This Blood Bowl Black Orc is pretty close to the 400+ WH40K orks I did eons ago so there wasn’t much in the way of “new”, just getting the feel back. My next model will be a Blood Bowl Skaven, which includes fur, naked skin, and a cloak – all things I’ve never come across with nearly 20 years of painting orks. I’m looking forward to it.
I’ll leave you with pics of the final product, with a hastily done flocking job. Working with a new product and it doesn’t work like that previous static grass I used. Still going to call this one finished so I can move on to the next.

Later!
