Miniature #2 – Skaven Practice

Started my second mini last night, a skaven from the GW Blood Bowl set. I have always liked the skaven sculpts. IF I were ever to create an Age of Sigmar force, it would be the rats.

My goal for this little guy as to work on smoothly transitioning from one color to the next. In this case, I wanted his fur to be a darker brown, then blend into a light tan/pinkish color at the extremities like the nose, paws, and tail. I think I got some of it, but I’m not 100% liking the color on the furred areas. I ws looking for a more reddish and saturated brown. I’, guessing my choice of the Reaper Leather Brown. might be the cause of that. That’s ok, I can choose a differing color on the next one.

Still getting the rhythm back but feeling more comfortable with the brush. I’m also working with a wet pallet, something I dabbled with before, but always defaaulted back to my white ceramic tile palettes. Not sure why. This is also taking a little getting used to.

Just having fun and not killing myself to “do the absolute best I can” for every part. Pick an idea or area and focus on that for the current model.

Later!
